The purpose of the Rockland County School Boards Association (RCSBA) is to improve the services rendered by the school districts of Rockland County through the cooperative effort of the members of Rockland's constituent school boards.

  • discussion of common problems,
  • research activities resulting in advisory recommendations,
  • coordination of legislative activities - NYSSBA PARC,
  • coordination of training seminars for school trustees,
  • and fostering a greater civic and school consciousness among the citizens of the school districts of Rockland County.
This Association subscribes to the aims and objectives of the NYS School Boards Association and may send delegates to the organization's meetings and conferences when requested.

Rockland County Board of Education Makeup Information

  • There are 72 School Board members on 9 Boards in Rockland County.
  • 26 of the 72 are women and 46 are men.
  • 7 of the 10 districts have women serving as president.
  • 3 of the 10 districts have men serving as president. (Clarkstown, Nyack and Pearl River)
  • 3 of the 10 districts have women serving as VP. (Clarkstown, Nanuet and Ramapo)
  • 7 of the 10 districts have men serving as VP.
  • There are 2 districts that have a 5 member board. (South Orangetown and Pearl River)
  • There are 3 districts that have a 9 member board. (BOCES, East Ramapo and Edwin Gould)
  • There are 5 districts that have a 7 member board.
  • 14 of 72  ( 19.4%) have served their board for 10 or more years.
  • The longest serving board member is Georgine Hyde who started her service on 7/1/69.
  • Anne Byrne (Area 10 NYSSBA Director and Vice President, Nanuet School Board) started serving on  7/1/81
